Swedish Grammy Award winner Stefan Östersjö is one of the most active musicians in the contemporary field in Sweden, and also one of the few guitarists to master the 10-stringed guitar as well as the 11-stringed alto guitar. "The development of Baroque interpretation during the 20th century has been a natural point of departure for me and my intention has been to adapt the style of a french lutenist in the interpretations, with elements such as 'style brisé' and 'notes inégales'. I have of course kept all original embellishments and also frequently vary the repeats. Another intention has been to preserve the rhythmic character of this music (note for example Bach's amazing rhythmic inventiveness in the fugue of BWV 998), striving to avoid playing the quicker dance movements all too slowly." (Stefan Östersjö)
