Today, more and more composers are wrinting music for period instruments. The sound of the recorder makes this instrument just as useful today as it was centuries ago. Despite the enormous time gap between the epochs on this CD, Kerstin Frödin finds that the medeival and contemporary repertoires have a lot in common. Giving new life to medeival music is, to her, a process just as creative as collaborating with contemporary composers. Kerstin Frödin is one of Sweden's foremost recorder players with a broad concert repertoire, member of The Swedish Recorder Quartet, the trio Das Orchester and the baroque ensemble Fortezza. Leif Karlsson is one of Sweden's leading percussionists in early music and is member of the percussionist ensemble Kroumata.
