Standing Ovation for Sabina Bisholt!
Published on February 26, 2025
dB Productions’ 'soprano in residence', Sabina Bisholt, made an outstanding performance in her role debut as Tatyana in Tchaikovsky’s 'Eugen Onegin', premiered on 22 February for a sold-out Wermland Opera house.
Swedish soprano Sabina Bisholt made very promising debuts on Swedish opera scenes by the end of the 2010s and was instantly considered a rising star. Then the pandemic came, which sadly put her career on hold. But after four album recordings on dB Productions, of which one solo album, her performance in Eugen Onegin now marks a convincing second break-through on stage. Eugen Onegin will be played at Wermland Opera until the beginning of April 2025, and the critics agree that it is a memorable Tatyana interpretaion at Wermland Opera:
'Sabina Bisholt's gravity is captivating. Her voice is expansive and warm, the interpretation intelligent and convincing. You hear Tchaikovsky speak through her. All his longing and unrequited love, in the darkness of the closet. Every second of the famous scene where Tatyana in her pyjamas writes her feverish love letter to Onegin is interesting.' (Expressen Kultur/Gunilla Brodrej)
'Tatyana, who is the acutal lead role in Tchaikovsky's interpretation of Pushkin's novel, is sung with passion by Sabina Bisholt. A sensitive and erudite teenage girl who transforms into a grande dame requires an equivalent soprano voice – and Bisholt have that.' (SVT, Kulturnyheterna/Camilla Lundberg)
In autumn 2025 Sabina Bisholt will make her role debut as Elsa in Wagner's Lohengin at Malmö Opera, conducted by Patrik Ringborg. Bisholt and Ringborg has previously collaborated on dB Productions' recent album, "Swedish Songs & Operatic Scenes" (dBCD214), and on the coming autumn release of Hugo Alfvén's complete orchestral songs, both with the Gothenburg Opera Orchestra.
