The Danish Quartet, active 1935-1957, was quite famous in Denmark as well as abroad. Many composers wrote music for their nontraditional setting, such as Niels Viggo Bentzon, Fini Henriques, Herman D. Koppel, Otto Mortensen, and Knudåge Riisager. With one exception (Riisager) it is all world premiere recordings performed by today’s highly ranked and award-winning Danish and Swedish musicians: Janne Thomsen (flute), Cecilia Zilliacus (violin), Andreas Brantelid (cello), and Bengt Forsberg (piano). The album was produced with financial support from Aage og Johanne Louis-Hansens Fond, Otto Mortensen Bequest, Dansk Tennis Fond, and Solistforeningen af 1921.
